Burning Through Blades, Like Chanting 300 Tang Poems, Part 2
In spring sleep I miss the dawn; everywhere I hear birds calling.
Before I knew it, day had broken, and birdsong could be heard everywhere. April has always been a month makers fight over. Since 2019, this has been obvious. That year, the three big brands each released an inner blade: Butterfly’s Tomokazu Harimoto ALC, DHS’s Hurricane Long 5X, Stiga’s Core Carbon.
April 2023 was lively too: DHS’s Hurricane King and Hurricane Sa, Butterfly’s Glayzer and G09c, Stiga’s Walnut upgrade, Cybershape all-wood and Spell Pro. This year, the birdsong-everywhere scene came a bit later than usual. But around the Sports Expo it was a flurry too: Tibhar’s Darko and Kaufmann, Andro’s Simon, Stiga’s Destiny Carbon and Luma hybrid carbon, Joola’s Hugo rubbers. Even I released the Super Heima and Mozaiti. So every April and May has both big events — World Cup, Worlds — and a happy, lively time for gear nerds.
Wildfire cannot burn it out; the spring wind blows and it grows again.
This fully reflects the gear nerds’, the burners’, state of mind. You cannot call it good or bad — it is just like playing with toys as kids. The next one is always better. The next bat is always the most alluring. Even those of us who have burned to the point of having little left to burn, having played some player bats and player rubbers, still leap with joy for the next unknown toy.
In life, when proud, enjoy to the full; do not let the golden cup face the moon empty.
In gear choice, being reasonable seems important. But actually, loving it is most important. Either do not buy, or buy something you really love, even if expensive. And the best things should be played the very first moment — enjoy the most beautiful present. Because the longer you leave it, the more your enthusiasm may cool.
When shall we together trim the candle by the west window, and talk of this night of rain on Mount Ba?
Gear enthusiasts easily have common topics. But what truly decides whether there is resonance is whether the two are evenly matched. Best if both technical abilities reach a similar level, and neither yields in their understanding or love of gear.
After parting like floating clouds, flowing water spans ten years.
After parting, we scatter like floating clouds. Ten years pass like rushing water, gone and never returning. Although gear changes over the past few years seem about the same, if you stretch the length to 10 years or more, the changes are actually not small. The original Tenergy, though still used by pros, trends toward rarity. The trend of replacement does not shift by human will.
