Mushroom Field Guide: A Flood of New Releases — MAGNES Cho Daeseong PRO

Originally published 2024-03-15 · Translated & republished with permission

This installment’s star: a flood of new releases — the MAGNES Cho Daeseong TMX PRO ST.

Quick Take

  1. Ever since the An Jaehyun Inner won market recognition and a following, MAGNES has been pushing hard — the An Jaehyun Outer, the Ice Cream Pro, the Cho Daeseong Pro, and now the new Hugo — all flashy stuff. As it happens, I got a blade a customer mailed in for a rubber change, so we’re seizing the chance to do a Cho Daeseong field-guide entry for the record.

  2. A trapezoidal box in a blue-cyan color, with a round ST handle similar to the Harimoto ALC, carrying over the large 158 x 152mm face.

  3. The blade face is printed with Cho Daeseong’s signature and a dedicated logo. The handle uses a five-color patchwork of black, orange, cyan, white, and dark blue, and the badges on both sides are oval-shaped.

  4. Structurally, it has a KOTO outer ply with an outer-fiber mix of three materials (aramid fiber, ZL fiber, and carbon). A large-face outer-fiber blade still seems fairly uncommon.

PS: The contents of the Mushroom Field Guide are all the author’s subjective impressions. Rubbers vary from piece to piece, and results also differ depending on the blade you pair them with. Comments and corrections are welcome.
