This installment’s subject: the Stiga DNA H Platinum Edition.

Quick Take

  1. After more than a year of effort, the DNA Platinum series has finally found a solid footing in the market. With strong performance and the star backing of Moregard, it’s hard for it not to take off.
  2. The Platinum DNA H is rated 50.0 degrees on the European scale, thickness 2.1mm, bare weight about 66 to 67g and up. It’s light, even lighter than the Platinum DNA M, which is genuinely amazing. It sells for around 230 yuan.
  3. The surface is very supple, with a more pronounced pip texture, and it bites the ball really well in the instant of a push or loop.
  4. Compared to the previous-generation DNA Pro, the pip length and arrangement have been adjusted and the topsheet upgraded. While boosting offensive ability, it’s actually better on the short game than the previous generation, striking a nice balance between violence and finesse.
  5. The most noteworthy point is that although the Platinum DNA series is a German rubber, its weight is controlled extremely well. The H and M differ in hardness but stay nearly identical in weight. If you like to drive the ball actively and enjoy a sharp, grippy surface, the Platinum DNA series is very much worth trying.

PS: Everything in the Mushroom Field Guide is my own subjective impression. Rubbers vary from sheet to sheet, and blade pairing changes things too. Comments and corrections welcome.
