WTT Yokohama Champions: Key Match Between Chen Yi and Harimoto Miwa
The WTT Yokohama Champions tournament has reached the round of 16, with several exciting matches on the schedule for August 6th. Among them, the match between Chen Yi and Harimoto Miwa is expected to be a major highlight.

In the women’s singles, the match between top-seeded Harimoto Miwa and Chen Yi is particularly noteworthy due to their history. Their first encounter in the WTT circuit was at the 2022 WTT Star Contender Doha, a match that marked a significant step in Harimoto Miwa’s rise to becoming a world-class player. Back then, ranked 534th in the world, Harimoto Miwa defeated Chen Yi, who was nearly 300 places above her, in a 3-0 victory. She went on to defeat Dina Meshref, then ranked 38th, in the main draw. 
Chen Yi’s journey has been different. She has reached a career-high ranking of sixth in the world and has grown through the WTT Contender series, claiming four titles. Although Chen Yi is still seeking her first WTT title above the Contender level, she has come close, reaching the finals of the 2025 US Open and the semifinals of the 2024 WTT Contender Almaty. 
Sidorenko, who lost to Matsushima Kyo in the 2025 US Open final, will make his WTT Champions debut against Xiang Peng, the 2025 WTT Champions Incheon winner. This match also represents a clash between players at different stages of their careers. Observers are eager to see if Sidorenko, ranked 16th in the world, can maintain his momentum and potentially break into the top ten, eyeing a spot in the 2026 WTT Hong Kong Finals. 
Xiang Peng, once ranked eighth in the world, has struggled recently, exiting in the first round of the last four WTT Champions events. With Wen Rui Bo and Zhou Qihao already out, the pressure is on Chen Yuanyu and Xiang Peng to perform.
