Chen Yi’s journey has been different. She has reached a career-high ranking of sixth in the world and has honed her skills in the WTT Contender series, claiming four titles. Although Chen Yi is yet to win a WTT tournament above the regular series level, she has come close, reaching the finals of the 2025 US Open and securing a runner-up finish at the 2024 WTT Regular Challenge Almaty.
