WTT Star Contender Ljubljana Qualifying Done: Wen Ruibo/Kuai Man Face Top Seeds in Day One Mixed Doubles

The 2026 WTT Star Contender Ljubljana wrapped up qualifying in the early hours (Beijing Time), with the main draw launching today.

Men’s Singles Qualifying

China sent nine men — Lin Shidong, Xiang Peng, Chen Yuanyu, Wen Ruibo, Chen Junsong, Huang Youzheng, Yuan Licen, Xue Fei, and Li Tianyang. Of those, Huang Youzheng, Yuan Licen, Xue Fei, and Li Tianyang went through qualifying. Only Yuan Licen advanced, winning three matches including a nervy comeback win against Hungary’s Andras, 11-9 in the deciding game after trailing 1-2.

Huang Youzheng won round two over Kazakhstan’s Fang Bo (former China national team) but fell 1-3 to Japan’s Oikawa Mizuki in the final qualifying round. Li Tianyang (chopper) lost to Croatia’s Zeljko; Xue Fei (penhold) fell to Gacina.

Women’s Singles Qualifying

China deployed 13 women. Kuai Man, Chen Yi, Shi Xunyao, He Zhuojia, and Qian Yuxuan entered the main draw directly. Of the eight in qualifying, four advanced: Yang Yiyun, Fan Shuhan, Zhu Sibing, and Xu Yi. Han Feier beat Chen Siyu but lost to Wang Xiaotong; Wang Xiaotong then lost to Fan Shuhan. Zong Geman fell to Zhu Sibing; Zhu Ziyu lost 0-3 to India’s Golpa Dey.

Doubles

Xiang Peng/Chen Junsong won 3-0 in men’s doubles qualifying. Chen Yi/Kuai Man, Qian Yuxuan/Zong Geman, and Han Feier/Shi Xunyao all entered the women’s doubles main draw directly.

In mixed doubles, Huang Youzheng/Chen Yi progressed automatically. Wen Ruibo/Kuai Man won their qualifying match in five games over India’s Jain/Das. In the main draw they face top seeds Lim Jong-hoon/Shin Yubin (Korea). Yuan Licen/Qian Yuxuan went 2-1 up but fell 2-3 to Korea’s Oh Joon-sung/Joo Chyun-hee.
