US-China Youth Table Tennis Training Camp Opens in Zhengding to Mark 55th Anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy
This year marks the 55th anniversary of the famous “Ping Pong Diplomacy” that helped normalize US-China relations. The Chinese Table Tennis Association and USA Table Tennis jointly organized the 2026 US-China Youth Table Tennis Training Camp at the National Table Tennis Training Base in Zhengding, Hebei.

On July 11, a 43-member American youth delegation arrived in Zhengding, with athletes ranging from 7 to 17 years old. Over more than ten days, the Chinese Table Tennis Association arranged joint training sessions between China’s national junior squad and the visiting American players. The base provided full training equipment, compatible power adapters, and custom meals for visiting athletes.
The camp curriculum includes technical skills, strength training, and coordination exercises. The two groups train together, learning from and complementing each other. On July 14 and 16, China-US exhibition matches will reinforce learning through competition and build friendships through sport.
On July 12, the American delegation visited the China Table Tennis Achievement Exhibition Hall, experiencing the sport’s rich history of friendship through historical documents and artifacts.

American team member Zhang Feilian said the world-class training facilities and attentive logistics made a strong impression. Another player, Eugene, said: “The training facilities here are truly first-class — every opponent I’ve faced is strong, and every session is a real challenge. But what moved me most was the hospitality — every detail is thoughtful.”
USA Table Tennis coach Mark expressed gratitude to the Chinese Table Tennis Association for providing this training opportunity. He hoped the American players would carry home the fighting spirit and genuine friendship of China’s young athletes to keep the Ping Pong Diplomacy spirit alive.
