Taiwan's Huang Yu-Jie Wins Double Gold at WTT Contender Asuncion: Women's Singles and Doubles in One Day
Taiwan’s Huang Yu-Jie won the 2026 WTT Contender Asuncion women’s singles title in Paraguay, defeating compatriot Tsai Yun-En 3-2 in the final — her first WTT series championship. China’s top players including Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin were absent, competing at the National Championships doubles event.
Women’s Singles Final
The final burst into life in the third game. Huang saved two set points trying to close out first-time WTT finalist Tsai Yun-En, but Tsai rallied to win two consecutive games and level at 2-2.
The decider was gripping: Huang raced to 6-1; Tsai fought back to 7-6; then Huang closed out with five straight points.

On her way to the final, Huang eliminated 5th seed Giulia Takahashi (Brazil) and top seed Amy Wang (USA).
Huang is the third Taiwan women’s player to win a WTT Contender women’s singles title in 2026, following Yeh Yi-Tien and Li Yu-Jun.
Women’s Doubles
Huang Yu-Jie then partnered Tsai Yun-En to win the women’s doubles title on the same day.
Taiwan Tsai Yun-En/Huang Yu-Jie 3-1 Chile Ortega/Vega: 11-5, 11-6, 10-12, 11-3
This was the first international doubles title for the Huang/Tsai partnership. With two golds in one day, Huang Yu-Jie was the undisputed star of Asuncion.
Men’s Singles
In an all-French men’s final, 22-year-old Alexis Kouraichi defeated top seed Leo De Nodrest 3-2 — his first WTT title.

De Nodrest took men’s doubles gold with Vincent Picard.

The only gold for Americas players outside doubles came in mixed doubles, where Chile’s Gomez/Ortega took the title.
