China Table Tennis Club Division D Championship Opens in Weihai: New Format and 63 Teams Compete
The 2026 “Qinxiangjian Cup” China Table Tennis Club Division D competition officially opened on June 11 at the South Sea National Table Tennis Training Base in Weihai. Organized by the Chinese Table Tennis Association, the event aims to develop reserve talent and strengthen grassroots foundations. It runs through June 15 with 63 teams and 245 players.
New Format
The Chinese Table Tennis Association redesigned the competition this year, replacing the traditional structure with group stage round-robin combined with a knockout bracket. The format increases playing time, reduces mismatches, and produces more accurate standings.
The top four teams in Division D will be promoted to Division C in 2027, creating a clear pathway from grassroots to higher-level competition.
The event is free to attend in person and is livestreamed on eight platforms including Bolipingpang, Tencent News, Weibo Sports, and Huya Live.
On opening day, competition ran smoothly and the atmosphere was electric. Athletes competed with spirit while also exchanging techniques and building camaraderie. Anti-drug awareness materials were displayed around the venue as part of National Drug Prevention Month.
