Chen Junsong Stuns Top Seed Lin Shidong in Five; Chen Yi Survives First-Game Loss at WTT Contender Zagreb

Day two of the 2026 WTT Regular Season Contender Zagreb produced dramatic results in the main draw.

Men’s Singles Round of 16

Chen Junsong — inverted on forehand, short pimples on backhand — beat top seed Lin Shidong 3-2. Lin won the first game 11-7; Chen came back to lead 2-1 with two 11-9 wins; Lin leveled at 2-2 with an 11-5 fourth game; the deciding game went to 14-14 before Chen seized a 16-14 victory. Chen Junsong will next face South Korea’s An Jaehyun.

Chen Yuanyu beat Japan’s Ueda Yuta 3-0 and faces Hiroto Shinozuka in the quarters. Shinozuka had eliminated Wen Ruibo 3-2 — Wen fought back from 0-2 to level at 2-2 but lost the decider 10-12.

Women’s Singles Round of 16

Chen Yi — China’s only surviving woman — lost the first game then won three straight to defeat South Korea’s Lee Eun-hye, setting up a quarter-final against Japan’s Saki Yokoi. Outside the national team, Zhu Yuling (Macao) beat Singapore’s Zeng Jian and will meet Japan’s Kihara Miyuu, who eliminated Doo Hoi Kem (Hong Kong) 3-2.

Men’s Doubles Quarter-Finals

Lin Shidong/Huang Youzheng came from 0-2 down to beat South Korea’s An Jaehyun/Park Ganghyeon 3-2. Wen Ruibo/Yuan Licen defeated India’s Thakkar/Suraweera 3-1 to reach the semi-finals.

Women’s Doubles Quarter-Finals

Chen Yi/Kuai Man beat South Korea’s Lee Da-eun/Choi Seo-yeon 3-0 to reach the semi-finals, where they will face Japan’s Harimoto Miwa/Odo Satsuki.

Mixed Doubles Quarter-Finals

Wen Ruibo/Kuai Man fell 1-3 to England’s Liam Pitchford/Ho Tin Tin. Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting/Doo Hoi Kem then swept the England pair and will face Japan’s Togami Shunsuke/Odo Satsuki in the final.
